THE LAST REVIVAL: AFRICANS TAKE YOUR PLACE – BENIN REPUBLIC CONFERENCE 2024

Club2000 in Igolo, Benin

The sophomore conference of Club 2000 Mission International was held in Igolo, Benin Republic between the 10th and 12th of October 2024. The venue was at Christ Compassion Gospel Church in Igolo. Club 2000 was hosted by Pastor John Akanbi, who was warm and very helpful to the ministers of God, and Pastor Akano Israel, the President of the body in Igolo, for two days of fellowship and discussions.

On the first day of the event, Dr. Austin Adesola spoke to the people of Benin taking his text from the book of John chapter 15 where Jesus talked about being the vine.

From this portion of scripture, Dr Adesola spoke on the importance of fruitfulness, outlining four major characteristics of fruitfulness

  • Salvation: He explained that only a saved person could truly be fruitful
  • Righteousness and Holiness: He emphasised the need for these critical pillars of the Christian faith in the life of a fruitful person
  • Vision: He noted that vision was only possible through the Holy Spirit and a believer’s life is driven by vision
  • Faith: This he explained as being a necessary ingredient for fruitfulness.

Later in the program, Pastor Billy Adesola spoke about the vision, mission, and organisational structure of Club 2000. He invited the people of Benin to join in the missionary endeavor for things such as training which would further equip them to preach the gospel.

The second day say Dr Adesola expand on the shoots of his first homily. He spoke particularly on the need for vision and how much of a driver vision is. He observed that vision was always bigger than the person who receives it, and is a guide through life. He mentioned that vision, is to affect every sphere of life of the receiver.

He also gave a few characteristics of vision:

  • It must be Christ-centric
  • It must be bigger than the individual
  • It must be broad
  • It must be selfless

Following his message, there was prayer and lives were saved as people emerged to give their lives to Jesus.

In the midst of all this, Dr Adesola was able to meet with the elders of the church and plans were laid out for subsequent visits to Benin.

The reception from the locals was excellent and there was great joy among all the people present. As the message continued to seep into people, their enthusiasm for the program and its implications grew more and more.

By the time the program was over, it was clear that the people of Igolo, Benin Republic, were willing participants in the spreading of the gospel of Christ.

Club 2000 Mission International will return to Benin in 2025 with plans for various other programs including teaching, and a food drive. It was a wonderful experience and another indicator of the truth in scripture.

“The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.”

(Matthew 9:37-38 NKJV)
